Our Story

Nai Dastak – Rojgar

She is Rohit Kumari Gond, a resident of Kasundi. A small forest village 42 km from Kasdol. She is the primary breadwinner of the family. Her husband is physically handicapped and unable to work. They have four sons and one daughter. Her two elder sons work as daily wage laborers to support the family. Other three children are attending the school. They have a small piece of agricultural land, entirely dependent on rainfall. Living on daily wage earnings.  In 2023, she opened a small grocery shop in the village, but due to lack of capital, had to shut it down—a painful setback for her family.

In 2024, bringing new hope. KALP is working in their village for several years on organic agriculture, introduced a new initiative through backyard poultry. identified 12 families—including Rajkumari—for support.

Initially she received one tool kit and material for cage. In due course of time she learnt poultry management vaccination, setting fair prices, and access local markets.

Her husband and elder son’s help her to manage the chicks and marketing. Through chick sales, she saved ₹18,600 and proudly reopened grocery shop. She and her husband now sit in the shop, regaining his dignity and contributing to their livelihood. her family is happy, and now have other source of income.
